This page provides instructions on how to request the deletion of your GreatFire VPN account and associated data.
How to Request Deletion
To request the deletion of your account and associated data, please follow these steps:
- Compose an email from the email address associated with your GreatFire VPN account (if applicable). If you signed up anonymously or are unsure, please provide any identifying information you can, such as your username or purchase ID.
- Send the email to our support team at: [email protected]
- Use the subject line:
Account Deletion Request
- In the body of the email, clearly state that you wish to delete your account and all associated data. Please include any relevant identifiers if requested in step 1.
Our support team will process your request and confirm once the deletion is complete. Please allow up to 30 days for the deletion process to be finalized.
What Data is Deleted?
Upon receiving and verifying your deletion request, we will delete the following data associated with your account:
- Your account credentials (e.g., username, email address, hashed password).
- Connection logs and usage data directly tied to your account identifier.
- Any personal information you provided during sign-up or support interactions.
- Subscription and payment information (where feasible and not required for legal/financial record-keeping).
What Data May Be Retained?
Certain data may be retained for a limited period, even after account deletion, for specific purposes:
- Legal and Financial Records: Information required for compliance with legal obligations or financial auditing (e.g., transaction records) may be kept for the legally mandated period.
- Anonymized Data: We may retain aggregated or anonymized data that cannot be linked back to you, used for statistical analysis, service improvement, and reporting.
- Support Correspondence: Records of your support requests (including the deletion request itself) may be kept for a limited time to ensure proper handling and for quality assurance.
